Communities

Manage members, rules and discussions

Use Creator and Volunteer controls to keep a community useful and welcoming.

On this page

Set clear rules

  1. Open the community's Settings or management area.
  2. Review visibility, the rules, and who may post and comment.
  3. Enable post approval if you want ordinary member submissions reviewed before publication.
  4. Save changes and explain important rule changes to your members.

Review discussions and membership

Creators and eligible Volunteers can moderate discussions and highlight published posts as Hot topics. Pending posts are visible to their author and authorised staff until approved. Use the Moderation area to approve or decline submissions with a reason. Role permissions differ: a Volunteer does not automatically have every Creator control.

  • Use member controls to invite eligible followers or assign an available role.
  • Removing a member and blocking a member have different effects. Blocking prevents rejoining until lifted.
  • Unblocking does not silently restore membership.
  • Only the Creator may choose to comment as the community where that action is offered. An existing comment's identity cannot be changed.

Platform restrictions still apply

A paused community can remain readable while new activity is stopped. Blocked or removed communities may be inaccessible. Community roles cannot override these restrictions. If you need help with a decision, send support the community link and relevant context without sharing private member information unnecessarily.
