Share your perspective without exploiting, threatening or misleading others. Protect young people and private information, respect creative rights, report harm responsibly, and use the review process when a decision needs another look.
This summary helps you navigate the policy; the full sections below explain the details.01Where these standards apply
These standards apply to posts, reels, photos, audio, captions, comments, stories, polls, profiles, messages, communities and any supported business or organisational presence on Upmanch. They also apply to account behaviour, not just individual uploads.
Different opinions, cultural expression, religious discussion, political debate and good-faith criticism are welcome when they respect people’s safety and rights. Context matters, but a caption, disclaimer or claim of humour cannot excuse prohibited harm. Community-specific rules may add requirements; they cannot weaken these standards.
02Protect children and young people
People below 13 must not register. Users aged 13–17 require verified parental or lawful-guardian consent. Do not help a young person evade an age restriction, fabricate guardian approval or conceal harmful contact with an adult.
Sexual exploitation, grooming, sexualised depictions of minors, trafficking and any request for sexual material involving a minor are prohibited. Do not redistribute suspected abusive material, including to ‘raise awareness’. Report the content or account and contact the relevant authorities when urgent protection is needed. Preserve a link or reference rather than circulating the harmful file.
03Threats, violence and dangerous conduct
Do not make credible threats, encourage attacks, coordinate violent harm, glorify acts intended to terrorise people or recruit for violent extremist activity. Instructions that facilitate serious violence, weapon misuse or dangerous criminal conduct are prohibited.
News reporting, historical discussion or condemnation of violence must have a clear informational context and must not celebrate harm or provide operational assistance. Do not post extreme graphic imagery for shock value or exploit a victim’s suffering. Immediate danger requires local emergency assistance; a platform report is not an emergency-response service.
04Hate and targeted dehumanisation
Do not attack or dehumanise people on the basis of religion, caste, race, ethnicity, nationality, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or a comparable protected characteristic. Incitement to violence, exclusionary threats, degrading slurs and support for persecution are prohibited.
You may criticise an idea, belief, government, institution or policy without advocating harm against people. Quoting harmful language for education or reporting requires clear context and should not reproduce abuse unnecessarily. Coordinated hostility is not made acceptable by the number of accounts participating.
05Harassment and bullying
Do not use repeated unwanted contact, sexual harassment, stalking, humiliating personal attacks, blackmail or coordinated intimidation to target another person. Encouraging others to abuse a person or to contact their family, workplace or school is also prohibited.
Respect a request to stop contact. Blocking should not be evaded through another account. Legitimate criticism of public conduct is different from threatening someone, publishing their private information or targeting a vulnerable person with abuse. Reports and appeals must be factual and must not themselves become harassment.
06Private information and consent
Do not disclose another person’s home address, private phone number, financial credentials, identity documents, medical records, precise live location or private messages without a lawful basis and appropriate permission. Do not threaten to reveal such information as a means of pressure.
Obtain the rights and consent needed when publishing another person’s image, voice or intimate information. Never publish non-consensual intimate imagery or sexual deepfakes, and do not request, trade or link to it. A previous public appearance or a relationship with someone is not blanket consent to every disclosure.
07Sexual exploitation and explicit material
Pornographic content, sexual services involving exploitation, sexual coercion and sexually abusive conduct are prohibited. Content involving a child in a sexual context is prohibited regardless of whether it is described as fictional, synthetic or consensual.
Health, education, art and reporting are assessed in context, but cannot be used to disguise explicit exploitation, harassment or unlawful material. Do not use thumbnails, captions or links to evade restrictions. A creator’s consent does not permit involving an unwilling person or a minor.
08Self-harm and serious health risks
Do not encourage suicide, self-injury, eating-disorder behaviour or other conduct likely to cause serious physical harm. Do not provide instructions, challenges or coercion designed to push someone into dangerous behaviour.
Supportive discussions of recovery and lived experience are welcome when they avoid encouragement, graphic exploitation and harmful methods. Do not present unverified cures or unsafe treatment instructions as established medical advice. If someone appears to be in immediate danger, seek local emergency or qualified crisis assistance rather than relying only on a comment or report.
09Fraud, scams and unlawful commerce
Do not steal money or information through deceptive offers, phishing, investment schemes, fake fundraising, fraudulent job listings or impersonated customer support. Never ask another user for a password, sign-in code or recovery credential.
Do not facilitate trafficking, illegal weapons or drug sales, unlawful gambling, counterfeit goods or other unlawful transactions. Commercial claims must be truthful and legally supportable. Do not imply that a transaction is guaranteed by Upmanch or that an official badge proves a seller’s products or financial claims are trustworthy.
10Impersonation and authenticity
Use an identity you are entitled to use. Do not imitate another person, business, public authority or Upmanch staff in order to deceive people. A fan, parody or commentary account must make its nature clear instead of pretending to be the subject’s official account.
Do not falsify verification evidence, forge a document or fabricate an affiliation. Names and usernames must not be used to conceal a scam or harmful impersonation. A verified account still has to follow the same content standards as everyone else.
11AI-generated and manipulated media
Clearly explain realistic synthetic or materially altered audio, images or video that could mislead a viewer about an actual person or event. Do not use deepfakes to sexually exploit, defame through deliberate deception, obtain money, falsify evidence or impersonate a person without permission.
Ordinary cropping, colour correction, captions and good-faith editing do not justify a false representation of the underlying event. Preserve meaningful attribution and do not remove a disclosure to make synthetic media appear authentic. A disclosure does not override another prohibition, and Upmanch does not claim that every altered upload is automatically detected.
12Harmful deception and civic integrity
Do not deliberately mislead people about voting procedures, eligibility, official emergency instructions or events where deception can cause serious harm. Do not circulate fabricated official notices or manipulate evidence to falsely represent a person’s actions.
Distinguish reporting, opinion, satire and unverified claims. Correct a significant error when you become aware of it, and provide context for recycled footage. Debate and criticism are welcome; fraud, incitement and dangerous deception are not. Upmanch is not the source of authority for medical, financial, electoral or emergency instructions.
13Copyright and creative rights
Publish work you created or are authorised to use. Music, sound recordings, photos, video, performances, trademarks and other material can have separate rights. A download button, visible credit or the fact that a clip is online does not establish permission to reupload or commercially reuse it.
Do not misrepresent someone else’s work as your own. Use legitimate sharing features where appropriate and respect restrictions set by the creator and the platform. A rights holder can report specific infringing content with the relevant link, ownership information and authority to act; abusive or knowingly false complaints are prohibited.
14Spam and platform integrity
Do not mass-post repetitive promotions, purchase deceptive engagement, use coordinated fake identities, manipulate polls or distribute unwanted messages. Do not abuse hashtags, mentions or community invitations to reach people who have not consented to that contact.
Unauthorised scraping of private information, credential theft, malware, access-control bypasses and denial-of-service activity are prohibited. Do not exploit a vulnerability to view another account’s data. Report a security concern to support@upmanch.com without sending private records, stolen credentials or a destructive demonstration.
15Responsibilities of owners and moderators
Set clear community expectations, use membership and posting permissions fairly, and act on credible safety concerns. Do not demand private credentials or identity documents through ordinary community messages. Do not use moderation tools for extortion, discriminatory intimidation or retaliation.
Owners can add topic and participation rules, but cannot permit conduct forbidden by Upmanch. Organisational and business accounts should disclose their genuine identity and avoid misleading endorsements. If a moderator’s action needs review, provide the relevant community and content reference through the support process.
16How to report a concern
Use a supported report or flag control and select the closest reason. Include the exact post, reel, profile, comment or other reference and concise factual context. If a report control is unavailable or you cannot sign in, email support@upmanch.com. Do not post sensitive evidence publicly to obtain attention.
Do not submit knowingly false reports, coordinate malicious reporting or repeatedly submit the same complaint without additional information. A report is a request for review, not a guarantee of a particular result. In immediate danger, contact local emergency services or the relevant authority as well.
17Decisions, appeals and repeated violations
Upmanch reviews available evidence and may remove or restrict content, limit a supported feature, or restrict an account where needed for safety, policy enforcement or legal compliance. Severity, context, intent, repetition and the risk to others can affect the response; urgent cases may require immediate protective action.
You can request review through Contact Support or support@upmanch.com. Identify the decision, explain why it should change and provide relevant context. Do not evade restrictions while an appeal is pending. Review outcomes may be limited by privacy, evidence preservation or applicable law. These Guidelines do not remove statutory review or complaint routes.
18Staying informed
These standards are part of the Terms of Use and may be updated as risks and supported features change. Read notices about important changes and apply the rules to every account you manage, not only your main profile.
A respectful community depends on decisions made before publishing: consider the audience, check your rights, protect private information and avoid content that could exploit or seriously harm someone. Contact Upmanch if a rule or decision is unclear; lack of a report does not make prohibited content permissible.
